If you’ve got a fabulous product that would make moms’ busy lives easier, even if it’s only an idea on paper, I encourage you to apply for a Huggies MomInspired grant. Imagine what you could do with $15,000! So many mom inventors (and now a dad) will tell you how much this grant means to their business. Not only are there stories remarkable, but they are willing to share their experiences and knowledge with other mompreneurs. Take a look through prior posts on this blog, and on the Huggies MomInspired site to see what the grants are doing for moms…like you! If you know of a parent who has the best idea, share the information about the program. The deadline for applications for this year is September 30, 2014. At the ABC Expo in Vegas earlier this month, I had the chance to speak with Nick (Kimberly-Clark) about the program:
- What is the best business advice you’ve ever received? It’s actually my favorite quote: “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” – Wayne Gretzky
- What is the one thing you wish you knew starting your business that you know now? “No” doesn’t mean “no” forever. It usually means “no” for the time being. Be politely persistent and follow up. The “no” may lead to a “yes”.
- How has the Huggies MomInspired grant differentiated you from other baby and child care brands? We have the clout of being recognized by a major consumer brand. This prestige instills confidence in our customers and retailers, thus driving sales.
- What advice would you give to those in the early phases of their business? Create a road map so you know your long-term vision. And then take one step at a time.
- What is one of the most important lessons you have learned over the course of your career? The entrepreneurial journey is full of ups and downs. Savor it.
